She doesn't have a mother and father. Nagayi was dumped and found on a road side then brought to Home Sweet Orphanage by a resident of Namwanzi village. This man has also previously been helped by
Family Rescue Foundation. Nagayi has now been with us for 1 year. She has also just started walking though she is old 3yrs old.
I found her by myself when I was with my mother, driving along in our orphanage car. I met an old woman crying on road side. She was sick and she wanted to reach a clinic but had no money. She was sitting with Oliver. I helped her to a hospital where I take my orphanage children and she was treated on my bill. She later told me that she was left with 4 kids in the house by her son who died of HIV. I decided to help with Oliver despite having limited resources at the orphanage. Oliver has 2 sisters and one brother and one of her sisters is also HIV/AIDS positive like Oliver. The grandmother is still alive but in very poor health so we are trying to find friends to help her and Oliver's siblings.
This little girl has a mother but she is is suffering from HIV/AIDS and is very poor. The father died some time ago. This little girl wishes to be a Nun when she grows up. We are looking for good Samaritans to sponsor her. It costs about $600 to support a child with school fees, clothings, feeding, and medication for a year.
She has been with us since 2004. She has a mother but no father. She is now in primary school, grade 5, at Tower Primary and her sister is in primary 7 at the same school. She says that when she grows up she will be a Nurse. She has two siblings who also need sponsorship.
She is sister to Nakagwa Prosy and they share the same story; a mother who is very poor and sick with HIV. She is in primary school, grade 7 at Tower Primary which is about 2kms from the orphanage. The girls have to walk from the orphanage to school every morning and back again on foot. She says that she wants to be a teacher and a Nurse when she completes school.
A victim of torture and domestic violence. His mother died and the father remarried a woman who never liked Henry. She used to torture him every day. The father was a drunkard. Eventually, Henry ran away from home and came to Home Sweet Orphanage by himself. He had a broken right hand and multiple scars. He struggles in school due to the abuse and he doesn't hear well. He is generally healthy now and he has been with us for 7 years.
He has been at Home Sweet Orphanage since we began in 2002. He has a mother but no father. The mother is very vulnerable. He has a brother and sister and was brought to the orphanage by my mother, Mary. He is in the same school with the others, primary grade 5. He says he want to become a bus driver after completing school.
He shares the same stories with Emanuel his elder brother. He is in primary grade 3 at the same school with the others and says he wants to be a volunteer, helping others.
Both of his parents passed away. He has been at Home Sweet Orphanage for 6 years now having joined us when he was 4 after the death of his mother. He was later baptized at our orphanage with others in 2008. He has no siblings and says he will be a teacher when he grows up.
His parents came from Rwanda after the genocide in 1994 and later died here in Uganda in 2002. He has a brother named Kaneza Patrick. Their parents were brought to us by their grandfather who also died in 2004. They both like cattlekeeping but Fred says he want to be a Priest and serve God.
Patrick shares the same story with his brother Fred (above). He says he wants to become a Rriest when he grows up.
He has a brother called Matovu Ivan. They lost their mother to HIV/AIDS. Their father has been very sick for a long time and the family is too poor to help them. Robert brought to Home Sweet after finding them living in a very bad conditions.
He shares the same story with his brother Ronald (above), but he is very shy. He loves climbing trees. When you ask him why he likes to climb so much he says he used to live on fruits of the forest because they had no food at home.
She has been at the orphanage for 9 years now. She was brought to us at age 2. She has no back ground at all unfortunately having been left for dead, found and brought to us by a good Samaritan. She says she wants to be a Nurse when she grows up. She is now in primary grade 4.
She lost her mother to HIV/AIDS. The father is still alive we believe but disappeared when he was very sick, having also contracted HIV/AIDS. Vivian is growing fast, and tall. She is struggling in school but likes games and singing. She is only in primary grade 3 at her age. She was brought to our orphanage by her grandmother.
She has been here at Home Sweet Orphanage for 7 years. She has both parents but they are very poor. She is very new in class but likes singing and dancing. She aspires to be a dancer and musician when she grows up.
He was brought to us after the passing of his father by his grandmother when she was unable to raise food for the children. She was once caught stealing food and later arrested. Robert's mother helped her and brought him to orphanage. Francis says he wants to became a Judge when he grows up.
He has his mother but his father died. The mother brought him to us seeking help and saying she could no longer afford to cater for her children because the father left her with three kids. This means this boy leaves two siblings behind and a mother. He says he wants to be a Pediatrician when he grows up. He is now in primary grade 5 at the same school with others.
This boy was brought to us 8 years ago at only age 2, when his mother dumped him. We kept him for a time but eventually his father was located, only to prove to be proved incapable of caring for him due to drunkeness. At that point the boy was such part of us that we decided to keep him here. Soon after we received information that his mother had passed. This boy has one sister called Teddy. He is very funny and says that when he grows up he wants to be a hunter. He does unfortunately struggle in school.
She has a father who is HIV positive. Her mother died. She has one young sister who is also HIV positive and lives here with us. The sister is called Naziwa. The father is being helped by an organization caring for people with HIV/AIDS called Uganda Cares. She struggles in school but loves the little kids, often behaving like a mother. She is very compassionate, not wanting to see others crying or suffering and has been known to give away her own food if someone else is without. She said she would love to be a mother of many kids someday.
This girl is an orphan with no mother or father, having lost both to HIV/AIDS. She was brought to our orphanage by her grandfather. She has one brother who is still with him but would like to join us if possible. They are very needy and innocent.
He have been at Home Sweet Orphanage now for 3 years. He was brought to us by his grandmother called Teddy, who has since passed. He has a mother who suffers severe mental problems, possibly according to the grandmother due to being raped. They don't know about the father. Patrick is funny, caring and innocent but needs a sponsor. He says that he wants to become a pilot when he grows up.
This girl is an orphan with no background having been found by a good Samaritan alone on a street. The Lady who brought her was working at a local dispensary where all our orphanage kids are treated, near the parish.
This girl was brought to Home Sweet Orphanage by Luwalira Robert {the director of Family Rescue Foundation} himself after finding her in poor living conditions with a grandmother who was very sick. She still has both parents but they are also sick, both suffering from HIV/AIDS. She too has been found to be HIV positive. At one point she was near death due to her condition but we have helped her here through a good diet and medical treatments. She has slowly recovered and is now a lovely, funny girl. She loves singing and playing and laughing all the time. She is also so friendly. She wants to be a Nurse when she grows up.
This boy is a complete orphan having lost both his mother and father died to HIV/AIDS. He has two siblings who are supported by an organization called Compassion International. Frank is a bright boy who says he wants to be a doctor when he grows up.
This little boy just joined our orphanage about 4 months ago. His father died and left him with his mother and a little sister of 8 months. The mother came to Home Sweet Orphanage desperate for help. Now she is working with us as a house mother to all of our children in the main dormitory. Patrick wants to be a Catholic Father [priest] when he grows up. Help him reach his goal.
This little girl has both parents but they are poor, also having to depend on others. She wants to become a teacher.
This girl is a sister to Nakuya Jovia (above). They have both parents but they are unable to help the girls. She is sweet and always playing with others.
This boy lost both parents. He was living with his grandparents who brought him to our orphanage for assistance. He is good in school and he wishes to be a doctor when he grows up.
Emmanuel is a poor boy with both parents but they can't afford to provide for their children; Emmanuel and his sister, Emmy.
She is a sister to Emmanuel, she is a poor little girl who needs sponsorship and adoption if possible.
She is Robert's daughter with also need of sponsorship. She loves to play and interact with others and says she wants to be a film star.
